Update on Ambulance Grants for Rural Counties

TASA has received an update regarding the second round of ambulance grants under Tennessee’s Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP).

According to Grayson Carter, Assistant Commissioner of the Office of Legislative Affairs, the State is finalizing its Budget Period One submissions to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), with a deadline of October 31, 2026.

Key Updates:

Second Round of Ambulance Grants: The ambulance grants are expected to be a top priority as the State begins Budget Period Two activities.
Anticipated Timeline: Grant information is expected to be released sometime in November 2026, although no official release date has been established.
Coordination with Office of EMS: State officials are arranging a meeting with the Tennessee Office of EMS to coordinate the timing and distribution of grant announcements.
Updated FAQs: Revised Frequently Asked Questions are still pending and will be distributed once available.

What This Means for Rural EMS Agencies

While the second round of ambulance grants remains a priority, agencies should understand that the anticipated November timeline is tentative and subject to completion of the State's current CMS submissions.

TASA will continue monitoring developments and share additional information with members as soon as official announcements, application details, and updated FAQs become available.
