TNT2 Program Update
Revised Treat-In-Place (TIP) & Transport to Alternate Destination (TAD) Guidance
TASA and TennCare have been working over the summer to revise the TNT2 program, which is designed to allow for reimbursement for Treat-In-Place (TIP) and Transport to Alternate Destinations (TAD).
Below is a summary of the changes. The revised TNT2 FAQs/guidance dated July 30, 2026, is available for review.
SUBSTANTIVE CHANGE
TennCare is allowing EMS to be reimbursed for EMS Treatment in Place without a Qualified Healthcare Partner (QHP).
NON-SUBSTANTIVE CHANGE
The term “telehealth” services was replaced throughout the document with “remote access” services. This terminology change was at the request of TASA.
TennCare inserted a note stating: “Remote Access is synonymous with TennCare’s terminology of ‘telehealth’ and is subject to all TennCare’s telehealth reimbursement policies and procedures.”
TASA appreciates TennCare’s willingness to continue working with Tennessee’s EMS community to improve the TNT2 program and expand appropriate reimbursement opportunities for alternative EMS delivery models.
