TENNESSEE AMBULANCE SERVICE ASSOCIATION MEETING MINUTES
January 14, 2010
Lebanon, TN

 

Board members present:    Dennis Rowe, Brandon Ward, Mike Shankle, Larry Billingsley, Doug McQuary, Lawrence Potter, Paul Anderson, Chad Graham, and J.R. Gore.

TASA members present:   Jimmy Studdard, Ken Wilkerson, Wilburn Lamance, Andrew Reed, Keith Douglas, Joyce Noles, Sam Yother, Danny Smith, Robert Byrd, and Joe Phillips.

 

Visitors: Rhonda Phillippi

 

President Dennis Rowe called the meeting to order, welcoming all who made the trip.

 

Minutes were provided from the last meeting.  After review, Paul Anderson made a motion to accept the minutes as presented. Larry Billingsley seconded, the motion carried.

 

Larry Billingsley, treasurer presented the financial report of  $54,061.07.
Motion was made by Doug McQuary to accept the treasurer’s report as presented. Brandon Ward seconded, the motion carried.

 

Doug McQuary updated the board on the Mid Winter Conference.  Brochures have been mailed.  Need regional board members to contact all the services in their region and remind them of the conference.  Concern was voiced over having the conference end at 5 pm on Friday.  It was felt that it needed to end approximately 2 pm in order to give attendees time to travel home and for clean up and breakdown of equipment with other groups coming into the hotel following TASA conference.  Doug McQuary made a motion to end the conference at 2pm on the 19th.  Larry Potter seconded motion.  Motion carried with the following vote:  Ward, McQuary, Billingsley, Shankle, Gore, Potter and Anderson all voting aye.   Motion passed

 

Mike Shankle and Brandon Ward gave legislative Committee report.  March 3rd is EMS day on the Hill in Nashville.  Present plans are to have a box luncheon along with award presentation to key legislative members who have been instrumental in getting legislative issues taken care of.

 

Doug McQuary is working on getting a room rate at the Radisson Opryland for anyone needing to stay the night prior and to have a planning meeting the night before the day on the hill.

Mike Shankle informed the board of the first annual EMS Day on the Hill in Washington DC on May 3 & 4 being coordinated by NAEMT.  This will be a good opportunity to meet and express Tennessee EMS concerns to national legislative members.  Paul Anderson made a motion for Mike and Brandon to attend if possible and if not pick replacements from the board.  Larry Potter seconded the motion.  Doug McQuary amended the motion to have six board members attend.  Chad Graham seconded the amendment.  The amendment passed.  The motion as amended was voted on by roll call vote.

Motion passed with 5 ayes and 2 passing.

 

Mike Shankle and Larry Billingsley discussed meeting with Kentucky State EMS board members. After discussing the way each of the associations work it was agreed to start working together to assist each state improving the relationship between states. The Kentucky association offered to allow TASA board member to attend for free to their state conference in September.

 

Larry Potter is sending out salary survey and asking for regions to return.

 

Rhonda Philippi discussed the upcoming EMS Star of Life, nomination need to be sent in immediately. It is being held on May 11th at the Sheraton in downtown Nashville. She is also requesting to do an equipment survey of EMS services at the Mid Winter Conference.
