Minutes for December 2, 2010

Those attending: Mike Shankle, Dennis Rowe, Doug McQuary, John Combes, John Fitzsimmons, Chad Graham, Larry Billingsley ,Paul Anderson, Lynn Thompson, Ron Bennett, Roger Paul, Keith Douglas, Chuck Latimer, Andrew Reed, Dee Ann Kelly and Liz Henley.

President Rowe called the meeting to order at 1120 hours.

After reviewing last months minutes a motion was made by John Fitzsimmons and second by Doug McQuary to accept as presented.  Motion passed.

Financial statement showed a balance of $ 51,726.62 with a motion made by Doug McQuary to approve as presented seconded by Paul Anderson.  Motion passed.

Mike Shankle reviewed the 2010 Reimbursement conference numbers with approximately 150 attendees.  The final hotel bill that Doug McQuary is working on should total a final amount for TASA to pay of approximately $12, 295.72.  The Reimbursement conference for 2011 will be held October 5 and 6, 2011 with the Medical Director’s conference being held on the 4th, 2011.  All of these will be at the Opryland Radisson in Nashville.

The Mid-Winter conference discussion was updated by Doug McQuary.  The Park Vista Double Tree has online registration fixed where those attending can register online.  As of this date the hotel has 109 rooms booked.  Memphis Fire is working to supply the CEU’s for the conference.  Mike Shan kle will work with Lynn Thompson to finalize this area.  Chad Graham is working on getting all books shipped to Park Vista and we will return those not used.  John requested that each region push to get the word out to submit nominees for the awards program.

NAEMT EMS Day on the Hill is May 3-4,2011.  Tennessee will work
on scheduling their own appointments with congressional leaders.  John Fitzsimmons ask that all EMS person to review the Proposed Draft of the NFPA 1917, Standard for Automotive Ambulances 2013.  Comment period for the law change has to be submitted by December 15, 2010.  NAEMT is working on a rebuttal on the changes.

TASA EMS Day on the Hill is March 9, 2011 with more information details to be announced next month.

The Page Wolfberg webinar is coming up on December 10, 2010 on Medicare fractional mileage requirements.  Discussion was held concerning the need for TASA to sponsor these again in each region.  A motion was made by John Fitzsimons to hold these as has been done in the past.  Motion was seconded by Chuck Latimer.  Motion passed.

Discussion was held concerning a travel policy for TASA  to help those who have out of pocket expenses on TASA business.  A motion from Lynn Thompson to go with standard mileage rate with hotel reimbursement until a policy can be formally written.  Motion was seconded by Mike Shankle , motion passed.  Lynn Thompson and Chuck Latimer will work on a policy to bring before the board.

John Fitzsimmons ask that the TASA Bylaws be reviewed as soon as possible.  President Rowe appointed John, Mike Shankle and Chuck Latimer to review and work up any changes and bring to the board.

Next TASA meeting will be held on January 6, 2011 at 1100 hrs. at the Ponderosa in Lebanon.

Meeting was adjourned with a motion by John Combes and second by Larry Billingsley.  Motion carried.
