President Reed called the meeting to order at 10:12 a.m. 

Board Members present:  Andrew Reed, Keith Douglas, Rick Valentine, Stan Clark, Joyce Noles, Ricky Slack, Wallace Elliott and John Fitzsimmons, Lis Henley

Board Members absent:  Andrew Hart, Doug McQuary, Tommy Crowder, Danny Houseright

Others Present:  Tina Dixon (Saint Thomas), Lynn Thompson (Maury Regional), Danny Fleming (Maury Regional)

Motion by Joyce Noles – 2nd by Wallace Elliott to accept the June 30, 2014 TASA Board Minutes as written, motion Passed.

Presentations and Monthly Reports:

Financial Report:

Rick Valentine – financial report showing current balance of $40,817.78.

Motion made by John Fitzsimmons – 2nd by Joyce Noles to accept the financial report, motion Passed. 

TASA vendor booth display – cost was about $100 more than expected due to shipping cost.

Motion by Lis Henley – 2nd by Wallace Elliott to pay the invoice in full, motion passed.

 General discussion about community paramedicine and how this should move forward.

Committee Reports

Reimbursement:

Agenda is set and registration will be open on the web site 8-8-14.

Joyce Noles provided examples of the give-away items for the conference.

Motion by Lis Henley – 2nd by John Fitzsimmons to buy items for both the Reimbursement and Mid-Winter Conferences – up to $9,000.00 with conference committees to decide on which items to purchase. Roll call vote was unanimous – motion passed.

President Reed to send out questionnaire to find out which board members will be attending the Reimbursement Conference.

Legislative:

TCRS 25 year retirement – Keith Douglas is in discussions with Congressman Black’s to assist in getting federal legislation changed to allow TN to offer this for EMT’s/Paramedics. Expect to visit with legislators in September.

Lobbyist – Tommy Crowder requested by email that the board consider the proposal to bid lobbyist services for 2015 and provide list of “expectations” to those interested. After discussion it was decided, due to today’s attendance, that we should bring back up at a future board meeting to receive more input.

It was also suggested that we request our lobbyist attend the board meeting at the Reimbursement Conference. Request that the lobbyist provide an overview of the legislative process during the meeting.

Audit/Budget: No report.

Bylaws: No report.

Others/EXPO:

TASA Night in Nashville will be at the Tequila Cowboy on November 12, 2014 in conjunction with EMS World Expo. Vanderbilt LifeFlight is sponsoring the event. TICKETS ON SALE NOW ON THE TASA WEB SITE

Board members should email Rick Valentine with dates they are available to help at the TASA booth during the EMS Expo.

Old Business – none

New Business:

  • Joyce Noles reports that the AAA is recognizing Congressman Marsha Blackburn with a legislator award on August 20 in Camden TN. Joyce will be presenting the award on behalf of AAA and TASA.

Announcements:

  • Next month’s board meeting will be held in Johnson City, TN on September 10th in conjunction with the Northeast TN EMS/Rescue Conference
