President Reed called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm

  • Motion by Andrew Hart – 2nd by Brad Phillips to accept the January TASA Board Minutes as written, motion Passed.

Financial Report: financial report showing current balance of $98,044.71

  • Motion made by Ricky Slack – 2nd by Lynn Thompson to accept the financial report, motion Passed.

State EMS:

No representatives. Upcoming important meetings:

  • Sub-committee on MIH/CP: March 14th at 10am (discussion of Florida curriculum)
  • Education Committee: March 29th at 1pm (discussion on degreed paramedic requirement)
  • Board Meeting: March 30th and 31st

Committee Reports:

Reimbursement: Tommy Crowder reported that he had contacted a Middle TN Federal attorney and the Dept. of Commerce & Insurance to speak at the conference. No word at this time.

Mid-Winter: Joyce Noles wanted to thank everyone for their help. She is already looking for speakers for next year.

Tommy Crowder discussed the CTAS opinion on the State’s drug testing policy. CTAS advises it is within the law for government agencies to follow the State rule for health practicing EMT’s and paramedics.

Discussion of degreed paramedic requirement. Seems to be a lack of communication by the Education Committee to EMS services.

  • Motion by Ricky Slack – 2nd by Lis Henley that based on current available information, TASA stands in support of a dual path, certificate and degreed, for paramedic licensure in Tennessee. Motion passed 9 – 1

Keith Douglas discussed recent changes in California and Oregon regarding CMS funding for underpaid Medicaid providers. Will be speaking with Chris Kelley.

 

President Reed offered information about the EMS Star of Life Awards Dinner and Ceremony May 5, 2016 at Rocketown in Nashville.

  • Motion by Andrew Hart – 2nd by Ricky Slack be a North Star Sponsor for this event ($2500.00 includes table for 10, program recognition, ½ page black & white company logo and placard. Motion passed 10 – 0
