EMS Day on the Hill – March 14, Nashville 2018

Note: Legislative offices have moved to the Cordell Hull Bldg located at 425 5th Ave. North (adjacent to the northeast side of the Capitol)

The Tennessee Ambulance Service Association invites and encourages you to attend EMS Day on the Hill in Nashville. The date is March 14, 2018.

DoubleTree NashvilleFor those traveling to Nashville on the 13th we will have a briefing at 6pm CST at at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville, TN. (2025 Rosa Parks Blvd.)

On the morning of the 14th we will gather in room 8A on the 8th floor of the Cordell Hull Building at 7:30 am to update those that did not attend the briefing. Please wear your dress uniform if you have one or appropriate attire representative of your agency on the 14th.

You should schedule your own meetings with your State Representative and State Senator, their contact information can be found here: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/legislators/ Our Lobbyist will schedule meetings between the Legislative leadership and the TASA Board. Board member meeting assignments will be distributed the night of the 13th.

Tuesday March 13th

  • 6:00pm – TASA Board Meeting and Legislative Briefing (Millennium Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville, TN. (2025 Rosa Parks Blvd.)

Wednesday March 14th

  • 7:30am – Attendees meet for additional information/updates (Legislative Complex – room 8A on the 8th floor of the Cordell Hull Building). TASA Board Members – greet legislators at the TASA booth
  • 8:00am – Attendees begin meeting with their legislators
  • 1130- Group pictures at Capital steps

​Here’s some of the bills we are currently following:
HB1837 / SB1823 (TennCare Increased Reimbursement)
TennCare – As introduced, extends the termination date of the ground ambulance service provider assessment from June 30, 2018, to June 30, 2019. – Amends TCA Title 5; Title 7; Title 56; Title 68 and Title 71.

HB1758 / SB1873 (EMT/AEMT training programs at EMS services)
Health, Dept. of – As introduced, empowers the emergency medical services board to certify training programs for certain emergency medical services personnel operated by licensed ambulance services. – Amends TCA Title 68, Chapter 140, Part 3.

HB2296 / SB2687 (training stipend for EMS personnel)
Safety – As introduced, entitles emergency medical service personnel to a stipend of $600 from the Tennessee emergency medical services board for completing 40 hours of in-service training annually. – Amends TCA Title 68, Chapter 140, Part 3.

HB0507 / SB0532 (supplemental retirement from last session)
Pensions and Retirement Benefits – As introduced, authorizes local governments to provide supplemental bridge benefits to emergency medical services personnel who retire before they are eligible for social security benefits. – Amends TCA Title 4; Title 8, Chapter 25; Title 8, Chapter 34; Title 8, Chapter 35; Title 8, Chapter 36; Title 8, Chapter 37 and Title 68, Chapter 140.

HB2659SB2708 (motorcycle medical 1st responder programs)
Health, Dept. of – As introduced, authorizes a pilot program to match local funds for municipalities that want to start a community-based emergency response program. – Amends TCA Title 5; Title 6; Title 7; Title 55 and Title 68.
